The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has delivered medical supplies for the treatment of more than 10,000 flood victims in Derna, Libya.
Development Diaries reports that the UNHCR noted on its X social media handle that it also handed over two rub halls and two generators to the country’s Ministry of Health’s emergency room and Ein Mara hospital to enhance their emergency response.

According to the UN agency, blankets, plastic sheets, kitchen sets and solar lamps are being distributed to the flood victims.

Thousands were left dead after Eastern Libya was hit by Storm Daniel on 10 September, while many more are still missing.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the unprecedented flooding has resulted in at least 3,958 confirmed deaths as of 16 September, with thousands still missing.
UN figures also reveal that an estimated 30,000 people are now displaced in Derna alone, adding to the 46,000 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) who were hosted in eastern Libya before the floods.
