Life for African Mothers (LFAM), a UK-based non-governmental organisation that helps to save lives by providing medications to treat pre- and post-pregnancy complications through its maternal mortality programme in hospitals and health centres across Africa, has donated a consignment of medications worth £75,000 to the Liberian Ministry of Health to fight against Covid-19.

The Minister of Health, Dr Wilhemina Jallah, thanked LFAM and the British government for supporting Liberia in the fight against the global pandemic. She noted that the arrival of the medications into the country was timely as 15 counties and the 14 Military Hospital will benefit from the distribution of the medications which will be used to treat patients, including Covid-19 patients.

The Country Director of LFAM, Abdul Fayiah Bah, stated that he was overwhelmed by his organisation’s continued contributions to his country and commended the British government and the international health partners for promptly coming to the aid of Liberians through LFAM. He promised to encourage his international partners to make more donations to the country to help ease the challenge of inadequate supply of medication at various health centres.

LFAM has trained over 400 Liberian midwives and nurses in eight counties in order to avoid death at childbirth.
