The Rotary Club of Accra North Kaneshie has revamped the Kaneshie Polyclinic Children’s Ward to improve health care for children and mothers.
Development Diaries reports that the polyclinic lacked a dedicated children’s wing to provide dedicated childcare services to the community.
According to the Kaneshie club President, James Tuade, the project has been a labour of love, dedication, and countless hours of hard work.
‘We set out with a singular vision to create hope for children in a healthcare facility within our community that would offer the highest standards of care, innovation, and service to our community’, Tuade said.
He stressed the need for more partnership between the government and the private sector to provide access to quality health care.
Childcare and maternal health care services in Ghana have experienced slow progress in recent years, especially regarding the reduction of under-five and maternal mortality due to the lack of special care needed by newborns.
The District Governor, 9104, David Amankwaah, said there was a need to support the hospital to relieve patients, especially children as ‘good health care is everyone’s right’.
‘Prevention is important, which is why we also focus on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care’.
The Rotary Club educates and equips communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases.
