Ghana: Gyetuah Joins 2020 Migration Working Group

The International Programmes Coordinator of Youth Advocates Ghana (YAG), Emmanuel Clifford Gyetuah, has been selected to join the 2020 Migration Working Group (MWG) at the UN Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY) as the Africa Focal Point.

The 2020 MWG at the UNMGCY is made up of young activists, experts, and professionals who are passionate about migration issues. They will coordinate and run the operations of the MWG to make sure that they are engaging communities of young people in the design, implementation, monitoring and follow up and review of policies at all levels related to migration, as well as the Global Compact on Migration (GCM) and Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD).

Gyetuah will work with committed young people with a key role of leading the preparations to the GFMD and GCM regional meetings, including through consultations, advocacy, and event planning.

Gyetuah is a youth development advocate with a special interest in youth civic participation, migration, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He leads YAG’s effort to the 2030 Youth Alliance, African Youth SDGs Summit, and other related SDGs initiatives. Through the YAG, he has worked with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Ghana to mobilise youth voices in the lead up to Ghana’s participation in the 2019 Voluntary National Review (VNR). He was selected as the Africa Youth Representative to the second Migration Youth Forum (MYF) and the 12th summit of the GFMD.
