Wikimedia Commons has announced a call for participation in the Wiki Loves Africa Competition 2021.
Wiki Loves Africa is an annual contest where anyone across Africa can contribute media that relates to a theme to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Each year’s theme – Health and Wellness – is chosen by the community to be universal, visually-rich and culturally-specific topics (for example, markets, rites of passage, festivals, public art, cuisine, natural history, urbanity, daily life, notable persons, etc.).
Benefits
- 1st prize: $1,000
- 2nd prize: $800
- 3rd prize: $500
- Other prizes include $500 for culturally specific or traditional representation of health or wellness, and $500 for best quality video (audio and visual quality and storytelling will be taken into account)
Eligibility
- All photos must be taken by persons submitting them
- Entries will only be accepted if uploaded between 15 February and 15 April 2021
- Participants must be registered on Wikimedia Commons and be contactable
- Images with watermarks or embedded signatures are not eligible
