Enter: WHO Road Safety Reporting Contest

World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ) have opened applications for the Road Safety Reporting Contest.

The aim of the contest is to raise awareness and spur dialogue around critical – yet underreported – road safety issues with a vision zero/safe system approach.

Underreported issues include road design and quality, unsafe and polluting used vehicles, cost and extent of crash-related injuries, air pollution due to exhaust emissions, safe public transport urban cycling.

Benefits

  • Winner of the contest will receive U.S.$1,000
  • Runner-up will get $750

Eligibility

  • The contest is open to journalists reporting on road safety in English, Spanish or Portuguese in Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Ghana, India, Mexico, and Uganda.
