Enter: U.S.-Africa Tech Challenge 2021

The U.S. State Department’s Global Engagement Centre has announced a call for entries to the U.S.-Africa Tech Challenge 2021.

The challenge aims to advance the development of promising and innovative technologies against disinformation and propaganda across Africa.

It is being held as a two-part virtual event. Part One will take place virtually in April 2021, while Part Two will take place on the margins of East Africa Com in May 2021.

Benefits

  • Up to three organisations will receive $250,000 in funding

Eligibility

  • Open to technologists from Africa to present their solution against disinformation and propaganda to an audience of government, civil society, and private sector
  • Organisations wishing to apply for the tech challenge must be operated in Africa with at least a co-ownership status with an African
  • Organisations must possess innovative responses or solutions to counter disinformation and propaganda in Africa
  • Organisations must be domiciled and headquartered in Africa
