Future Bora has announced a call for entries to the Future Bora Challenge 2020.

The challenge aims to catalyse interventions that expand economic opportunities for the most vulnerable and under-served Kenyan youths.

By supporting interventions that are tailored to the local and highly specific needs of the most vulnerable youths, the initiative aims to reduce the obstacles that these youths face while seeking employment and income generation opportunities.

Future Bora is an initiative of the government of Kenya under the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP).

Benefits

  • Grant funding of KSH40 million for each of the three winning organisations disbursed in tranches
  • Advisory and mentoring support
  • Opportunity to show intervention and gain visibility

Eligibility

  • The organisation must be registered in Kenya
  • The intervention/solution submitted by the organisation must be unique and innovative in solving unemployment issues faced by the most vulnerable and under-served Kenyan youth
  • Open to all types of organisations (for-profit, not-for-profit) except state-owned enterprises and public institutions
  • At least 80 percent of the beneficiaries of the proposed intervention should be between the ages of 18 and 29
  • The organisation should have been operational for at least three years as of 01 September, 2020
  • Consortia are eligible to apply if the lead applicant fulfils all criteria and other partners fulfil at least four (out of five) of the other criteria
  • The organisation should be working with orphans, persons with disabilities, single mothers, youths affected by conflict, street youths, youths from vulnerable and marginalised communities
