The President Bola Tinubu administration has said that the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) are exempt from the dissolution of management boards of federal parastatals.
Development Diaries reports that this was made known in a statement by Director Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, who did not specify the reasons for the action.
This comes barely 24 hours after the announcement that the president approved the dissolution of management boards of all federal parastatals, agencies, institutions and government-owned companies.
‘The Secretary to the Government of the Federation has clarified that the boards of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration & Control (NAFDAC) are exempted from such dissolution’, the statement read.
The use of the word ‘clarify’ in this statement clearly shows that something is not right in the area of communication from the presidency.
Is there a reason why this clarification was not included in the earlier statement? Why was the reason not specified?
Communication is a fundamental human need and the people of Nigeria have the right to get the right information from the government at all times.
Development Diaries calls for clarity in official statements issued on behalf of the Nigerian leader to avoid confusion and misinformation.
We also urge the president’s communications team to make its communication policies public, consider helpful criticism, and update such policies as needed.
