Justice and Equity Prison Fellowship Cameroon (JEPFC) has provided 103 children of inmates at the Buea Central Prison with food and other gifts for Christmas celebration.
In a ceremony tagged ‘Angel Tree’, the children staged Christmas carols and sketches at the courtyard of the Buea Central Prison.
The children, drawn from Fako Division, enjoyed a common meal with the officials before receiving their gifts, including toys and balloons.
President of JEPFC, Nana Abunaw Marie, said that the event was organised to cheer up children of inmates.
‘This is the time we come to their lives and make them feel that they are not left out of Christmas celebration despite the fact that their parents are in prison’, she said.
One of the children (name withheld) recounted how sad it has been for him to be without his father for three years.
Another child (name withheld) burst into tears after seeing her brother for the first time in a long time.
