What: Renewables in Mozambique 2020
When: Postponed
Where: Maputo, Mozambique
The Lusophone Renewable Energy Association (ALER) and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER) in partnership with Solar-Power Europe (SPE) and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) are organising the Renewables in Mozambique 2020 Conference, with the support of GET.invest, Energising Development (EnDev), and the Green People’s Energy for Africa programme.
The conference aims to raise awareness and provide further information about renewable energy investment opportunities in Mozambique for the private sector, ongoing initiatives from the government, address key issues for private sector renewable energy sector investment in Mozambique, and create a more dynamic and competitive renewable energy market in Mozambique.
Attendees will have the chance to join GET.invest B2B matchmaking sessions committed to providing participants with unique opportunities to connect with potential business partners, investors, relevant policymakers and experts through a series of select personal meetings. There will also be prospects for attendees to become better informed about investment opportunities and for members of the public sector to become more aware of the benefits of working with the private sector. Topics covered at the conference will range from on and off-grid markets to clean-cooking and productive uses of energy.
The conference has been postponed to a later date in the year due to Covid-19.
ALER’s primary concern is with the health of all participants, not only during the event but also during the travels necessary to get there. Secondly, the main objective of the conference is to bring together the most relevant stakeholders in the renewable sector in Mozambique so that they can share information for the further development of projects. Given the current situation, many participants would be unable to join the conference, thus jeopardising the aim of the event.
For these reasons and to avoid any extra risks and uncomfortable situations due to the imposition of preventative measures such as quarantine periods, the conference organisers and their partners have made the decision to postpone the event until later in the year.
