YouthHubAfrica is seeking to fill the role of Senior Programme Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation/Communication and Knowledge Management.

YouthHubAfrica is an online community that seeks to create a platform for young people in Africa involved in social change to interact, learn and collaborate in new ways.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and technical leadership for implementation of the project’s monitoring and evaluation, communication, branding and knowledge management strategy to effectively capture, organise, access, and share information and knowledge on project activities
  • Design and manage programme’s performance and ensure that appropriate data is collected, verified, analysed, reported on and incorporated into programmatic decision-making and planning per the Activity Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (AMEP)
  • Supervise the documentation and dissemination of programme learning, innovations, and key results, and the development of strategic communication products
  • Establish and champion knowledge management and communications procedures and processes to maintain high quality and efficiency; facilitate innovation, and enable a high level of access to and use of information by project staff and stakeholders
  • Ensure that outputs and outcomes of the project are widely shared by coordinating reporting of specific activities, identifying and sharing learning materials with stakeholders
  • Develop and manage mechanisms, platforms and other electronic approaches that promote information sharing
  • Work closely with the executive director, programme manager, and other team members to understand programme goals and to meet expectations
  • Develop standard operating procedures for data collection, management, analyses and reporting
  • Prepare and oversee the production of the project communication materials, summary briefs, success stories and reports in close collaboration with the communication team
  • Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of evaluations and development of result frameworks
  • Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems
  • Lead the process of collecting and preparing data for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports
  • Participate in development and/or prepare necessary technical and programme-related reports, including presentations and papers
  • Participate and represent the organisation, as needed, in outside associations, conferences, and symposia
  • Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of inclusion
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations

Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work, International Development, Communications, Public Administration or a related field (master’s degree will be an added advantage)
  • Five years, minimum, of experience with similar projects, and demonstrated experience in developing and managing knowledge management systems for education and advocacy
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Willingness to work in a team
  • Experience in documentation, dissemination, public affairs, web services, or editorial work
  • Proven ability to organise and share information effectively
  • Demonstrated writing, editing, computer, and analytical skills
  • Experience in developing programme dissemination plans, tools, and products
  • Ability to interact with established networks of senior level international health professionals, donors, universities and other partners
  • Experience in managing complex, large-scale, donor-funded programmes
  • USAID-sponsored project experience will be an added advantage
