YouthHubAfrica is seeking to fill the role of Field Officer.

YouthHubAfrica is an online community that seeks to create a platform for young people in Africa involved in social change to interact, learn and collaborate in new ways.

Responsibilities

  • Understand programme goals and meet expectations
  • Support YouthHubAfrica programmes to supervise and manage all activities  in Sokoto State and other adjoining project sites
  • Support team in preparing proposals, and concept notes
  • Take lead in preparing reports as assigned
  • Coordinate ground activities, including training and capacity building, outreaches and media efforts
  • Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports on time and with accurate data
  • Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibilities as and when needed
  • Actively participate in relevant working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives
  • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organisation, notably through the application of the organisation’s code of conduct
  • Take notes of regular team meetings for the programme office use
  • Work with other programme assistants to coordinate work activities, meet deadlines, and provide support where needed
  • Work with existing stakeholders, and identify other key stakeholders on areas of thematic importance
  • Mobilise and organise for advocacies at the community level
  • Identify and work with influencers on basic education, girls’ education, the child right and related policies as well as youth participation in governance and sustainable development
  • Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of inclusion
  • Develop and maintain an efficient filing system for the team, including assistance in processing calls for proposals as required and maintain a tracking system of responses to proposals
  • Develop workplans in line with financial pipelines
  • Work with finance and logistics to plan and procure supplies within programme budgets
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations

Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work, International Development, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Two years of experience in programme design and implementation will be a plus
  • Proficiency in Hausa and English
  • Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilisation projects and stakeholder engagement
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the environment and people, including culture
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Demonstrate willingness to work in a team
