YouthHubAfrica is seeking to fill the role of Communication Officer.
YouthHubAfrica is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that provides platforms for young people to contribute to sustainable development and collaborate in creative and special ways.
Responsibilities
- Develop, write and edit communications materials, including newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and social media content under the supervision of the head of the department
- Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and recommendations for communications campaigns
- Work with communications team members to conceptualise and implement communications strategies and campaigns
- Ensure that all communications material aligns with the organisation’s standards
- Maintain calendars and appointments for the team and internal projects
- Develop, manage and maintain working relationships with journalists across all types of media
- Prepare and manage the organisation’s communication budget for projects
- Maintain a database of subscribers, media organisations, partners, and all stakeholders, as well as cordial relationships with them
Requirements
- Degree in Mass Communication, or a related field (master’s degree will be an added advantage)
- Three years, minimum, of experience with similar projects and demonstrated experience in developing and managing knowledge management systems for education and advocacy
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible to a changing work environment, and make decisions independently
- High level of computer literacy
- Willingness to work in a team
- Experience in documentation, dissemination, public affairs, web services, or editorial work
- Proven ability to organise and share information effectively
- Demonstrated writing, editing, computer, and analytical skills
- Ability to interact with established networks of senior-level international health professionals, donors, universities, and other partners
- Experience managing complex, large-scale, donor-funded programmes
