World Vision International is seeking to fill the role of Database Officer.
The mission of World Vision International includes working with the poor and people who are oppressed as it promotes human transformation.
Responsibilities
  • Carry out installation, configuration and backup/recovery of database
  • Carry out database troubleshooting and problem-resolution
  • Consolidate all district databases
  • Analyse and compare data trends in the databases
  • Perform database and application monitoring
  • When the need arises, programme the database to match the situation on the ground
  • Design and review new database programmes, functions, procedures, data structures and packages
  • Assist in database sizing and capacity planning
  • Formulate and monitor policies and procedures and standards relating to database management
  • Propose solutions, in compliance with scope and requirements, of user and management approval
  • Enrol users and maintain system security and provide I.T. support to district offices
  • Teach BHA programme staff how to use the database for data capturing and processing
  • Conduct process monitoring of project activities and provide feedback on monitoring findings to partners and programme teams
  • Maintain functional complaints and response mechanisms and follow up on complaints received

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Database Management, or equivalent
  • Three years, minimum, of experience in database design, data collection, and analysis or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of computer-based statistical packages, including SPSS, CsPro, Ep-info and Excel
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks, particularly for USAID/BHA-funded programmes
  • Two years, minimum, of experience in database management in the NGO sector
  • Knowledge and experience in using LMMS
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic-Programming, Microsoft Access, SPSS, My SQL
  • Good communication skills
  • Humanitarian competencies
  • Experience in liaison and coordination with government agencies, rural communities and other humanitarian agencies, and excellent project management skills
  • Clean class-four driver’s licence
