The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Aviation Associate.
WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the assessment programme for airports, aerodromes, runways and helipads
- Assist the flight safety officer in the execution of assessment and reconnaissance missions and prepare related reports and record data
- Get in touch with the focal points in order to better help them in their tasks relating to flight safety
- Comply with and ensure the implementation of the rules and procedures contained in the Flight Safety SOP (SOP)
- Compile statistics relating to flight safety incidents, relocations and safe evacuations
- Assist in the collection and analysis of security information from various sources such as MONUSCO Security, WFP Security, NGO security focal points, local authorities and any other entity as indicated by the security officer
- Assist the flight safety officer in carrying out the assessment/analysis of the threats and risks associated with the benefit of UNHAS flights in the DRC
- Respond to assistance needs and emergencies triggered at the airport and/or aircraft level
- Participate in search and rescue operations
- Get in touch with the indicated security structures in order to obtain the necessary security information and make sure to share it with all those who need it
Requirements
- Diploma or a qualification obtained in Aviation could be considered
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to use and communicate with a VHF radio
- Good knowledge of IT tools
- Ability to use office equipment such as scanners, printers and photocopiers
- Ability to work independently and within a group
- Be willing to work long shifts when necessary
- Ability to present information in a coherent and clear manner
- Three years, minimum, of work experience in aviation
