The World Bank Group (WBG) is seeking to fill the role of Security Specialist.
The bank, with 189 member countries and more than 120 offices worldwide, works with public and private sector partners, invests in groundbreaking projects and uses data, research, and technology to develop solutions to the most urgent global challenges.
The WBG consists of five specialised institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a security risk assessment within the GCSGO specified frequency for the area of responsibility
- Assist country office management in developing and overseeing the day-to-day conduct of the office security programmes, ensuring preparation of adequate responses to security incidents and natural and man-made disasters
- Provide technical security advice to and coordinate with corporate real estate, in consultation with the manager of global operations, for existing facilities and any potential new offices
- Manage the video surveillance, card access and other physical security and fire/life safety systems
- Carry out evacuation drills periodically
- Monitor and advise on residential security upgrades for newly acquired and existing residences of international staff
- Provide general residential security advice to all staff
- Provide advice on security arrangements at hotels, restaurants, ministries, diplomatic/international organisations
- Liaise with host government security and law enforcement officials, as appropriate, and with security advisors for diplomatic/international organisations and private security firms
- Assist staff and visiting missions in reporting incidents
- Ensure a viable system is in place to track staff, note arrival/departure/residence changes, and to coordinate with UNDSS and the WBG security operations centre
- Manage the country office security guard services contract
- Manage the country office major security equipment programme
- Provide traveling staff and visiting missions with practical security advice and contact information in advance
- Provide briefings, communications, and logistical support for field missions
- Draft staff security advisories on risk mitigation in response to the general security situation, following significant specific incidents and during periods of heightened risk
- Conduct periodic security awareness briefings for all staff
- Deliver or coordinate relevant security training for all staff
- Serve as advisor to, and conduct training for, the country office emergency management teams
- Maintain and update, as necessary, all country office contingency planning material, reference documents and annexes
- Organise periodic tabletop exercises to test the ERBCP
- Maintain and periodically test the staff telephone tree and warden system
- Organise security and fire/life safety training and briefings for all staff
Requirements
- Master’s degree with five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, namely, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly and effectively
