World Health Organisation (WHO) has opened applications for the role of Risk Communications Officer.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of risk communication activities as part of the health response operations
- Identify risks that may cause potential concern for country office operations and propose recommendation for response
- Support the review of technical materials produced by the country office that require the integration of risk communication principles and practice
- Track false rumours and misinformation, and prepare responses to areas of concerns
- Support the revision risk communication materials, such as public information; brochures, leaflets and posters; radio and TV scripts; guides for stakeholders for risk communication
- Exchange information with national authority counterparts on lessons learnt to further strengthen emergency risk communication activities
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- University degree in Social Sciences, Behavioural Sciences, Development Sciences, Communications, Public Health, or a related field
- Training in Public Health, Health Education, Health Communication, or Health Promotion (desirable)
- One year, minimum, of national level experience in risk communication, health promotion, and/or emergency management
- Demonstrated experience in implementing risk communications activities
- Experience with WHO, the UN, health cluster partners, recognised humanitarian organisations
- Management or project management experience
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic
