World Health Organisation (WHO) has opened applications for the role of Logistics Assistant.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the system of the United Nations.
Responsibilities
- Assist international staff with importation, purchasing and registration of their payment and inventory requirements
- Coordinate and monitor office space requirement in liaison with relevant units as required
- Coordinate and provide sound transport management service in WHO country office
- Assess the transport need and develop transport plan to ensure availability of transport for the planned activities of WHO country office
- Monitor the movement of WHO vehicles in accordance with the rules and regulation of WHO
- Manage the inventory of WHO vehicles and ensure that the vehicles are roadworthy
- Act as focal point with external contractors for vehicle maintenance
- Evaluate the quality of maintenance conducted on WHO vehicles and provide technical advice when required
- Ensure proper management of radio HF and VHF communication network
- Follows up on the process of annual inspection and insurance policy for all WCO vehicles
- Manage allocation of office space and equipment to staff members in collaboration with the administrative services team
- Serve as backup to the team members in similar or different positions within the WCO
- Assist in the production of reports, statistics, and/or information material when required
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Requirements
- Secondary school education with general administrative training focusing on logistics, procurement and travel practices, theories and procedures
- Training in logistics, supplies/procurement and travel (desirable)
- Training in UN/HR systems (desirable)
- Five years, minimum, of experience in administrative positions, preferably with several years of experience in the UN
- Experience working as an executive assistant in WHO/UN (desirable)
- Fluency in spoken and written English
