World Health Organisation (WHO) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Human Resources Officer.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the system of the United Nations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance of HR activities with WHO rules and regulations, policies, procedures and strategies
- Advise the head of WHO country office and staff on all aspects of HR policies and procedures including proper use of contractual modalities
- Provide substantive input to HR planning and forecasting of the staffing needs and facilitate and monitor the recruitment of non-staff
- Lead WHO country office selection processes, including drafting position descriptions, establishment of positions in GSM, announcing vacancies, screening of candidates, interview panels and related activities
- Develop and manage rosters for local positions
- Provide orientation programmes and briefing to new employees/contractors
- Monitor contract’s expiry dates, initiate and follow up on requests for extensions
Requirements
- University degree in Human Resources Management, Public or Business Administration, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Two years, minimum, of experience in human resources management services or positions involving HR management in the field and/or emergency response situations
- Relevant experience in WHO or another UN agency
- Knowledge of HR policies and practices in the UN common system
- Knowledge of human resources management policies, practices and procedures and ability to apply them in the country office setting
- Expert knowledge of English
- Intermediate knowledge of French and local language
