World Health Organisation (WHO) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Communication Associate.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage non-staff contractual arrangements including issuing imprest procurement requests concerning processing APWs and consultant contracts and follow up with GSC and with technical units on delivery of assignment reports, effecting payments, etc
  • Implement decisions related to distribution of funds received by the department and ensure funds that have been received are reflected and linked to the respective workplans
  • Monitor award expiry dates, alert responsible staff, and liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding necessary actions to extend awards
  • Implement communication activities for prevention, management and monitoring of noncommunicable diseases and mental illness/health in close collaboration with other technical units in the department of UHC/NMH and beyond
  • In consultation with technical units, design and provide layout and production of technical and non-technical communication materials, including messages, write-ups, HTML templates, GIFs, publications, web content, etc
  • Produce relevant, high-quality media tools, including audio-visual, photographic and printed materials, multimedia presentations, social media cards/tiles, videos, GIFs, press releases, etc. to highlight and amplify WHO’s work in the areas of noncommunicable diseases and mental health
  • Support the restructuring and updating/editing of the department’s websites by using content management systems, as well as designing and developing content for the web based on Google Analytics, user needs, WHO accessibility policy and the department’s expanding scope of work in noncommunicable diseases and mental health, communication and publications

Requirements

  • Secondary school education supplemented with experience and/or training in a related administrative field, as well as graphic design, content development and effective writing for communications
  • University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
  • Eight years, minimum, of progressive experience in public information, design and content development, media and communications, supplemented with experience in a relevant field
  • Related experience in UN or international organisations, especially in administration and communications
  • Knowledge and application of WHO administrative policies and procedures
  • Good time management and stress management, communication, writing and analytical skills
  • Good knowledge and use of content management systems, the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe creative suite and understanding of social media channels, trends and audiences
  • Ability to think fast, as well as creatively while under pressure, and apply creative solutions
  • Good knowledge of WHO procedures and HR practices as applicable to the administrative level (an asset)
  • Expert knowledge of English and Arabic
  • Intermediate knowledge of French
