The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Senior Logistics Associate.
WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision of the logistics officer, comanage and act as focal point for all logistics activities in the province
- Provide specialised support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries
- Coordinate requisitioning and ensure timely delivery of commodities and supplies to authorised partners and destinations
- Manage contracting activities of logistics vendors, including performance monitoring and measurement
- Support the gathering of market intelligence, vendor assessments (e.g., transporters, retailers) to support vendor selection process
- Identify, resolve and/or provide recommendations on specialised queries/requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of enquiries with excellent client service mindset
- Support the country office supply chain unit by drafting the budget for all delivery modalities in the province
- Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status from source to beneficiary
- Support oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity
- Act as linkage between country office supply chain unit and the programme unit at the sub-office
- Analyse operational pipeline and contribute to assessments and operational planning for all delivery modalities, to ensure that supply chain requirements are taken into consideration
- Manage documentation processing for execution of logistics operations, take appropriate actions to resolve operational issues, escalating complex issues to the country office supply chain teams
- Ensure that weekly and monthly physical inventory at all warehouses under jurisdiction are performed in line with standard procedures
- Ensure that corporate system stocks are always in line with the physical stocks
- Ensure information accuracy in corporate systems to enable informed decision making
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management and contribute to effective service delivery
- Supervise the work of support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to ensure individual and team objectives are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines for all assistance modalities
- Support logistics emergency preparedness and response activities, including logistics capacity assessment and contingency plan update, to support WFP’s response in emergencies
- Provide support to logistics operation and activities, following the standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries
- Implement all loss mitigation procedures in place and report on all loses incurred
- Work closely with programme teams on delivery plans and delivery versus distribution reconciliation
- Elaborate daily/weekly/monthly progress reports
- Carry out other tasks as required
Requirements
- Secondary school education and post-secondary certificate in a functional area (desirable)
- Five years, minimum, of experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation or warehousing sectors
- Experience of supply chain operations
- Experience working with corporate systems (databases or Microsoft Office)
- Fluency in both Portuguese and basic Knowledge of English
