Apply: WFP Programme Policy Officer

The World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Policy Officer, Livelihood and Resilience.

The WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The organisation’s mission is to ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, planning and implementation of programme activities supported under the Country Strategic Plan for Cameroon
  • Review and give technical feedback on food security assessment, beneficiaries targeting and monitoring plans and ensure that programmes are relevant, well-targeted and providing appropriate response to the food and nutrition security of the assisted vulnerable population in Cameroon
  • Contribute to strengthening partnerships with UN humanitarian and development agencies, NGOs, inter-governmental and governmental partners in resilience building
  • Provide technical support to WFP field-offices and cooperating partners in the implementation of household income generating activities, public works, and safety net programmes
  • Support in targeting of communities for the livelihood/food security or asset creation programme of communities
  • Develop formal arrangements with implementing partners, identify proposed projects, and facilitate needed approval at the local level

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Agriculture, Economics, Rural Development, Food Security, Project Management, Nutrition, Agriculture, Economics, Development Economics and International Development
  • First university degree with seven years of related work experience and/or training/courses with five years of experience in agriculture fields may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Seven years, minimum, of professional experience in food security and nutrition programme management, monitoring and evaluation, programme analysis and monitoring, programme coordination in a humanitarian/development context with UN agencies, NGO, government or private sector
  • Experience managing staff and improving performance
  • Experience of refugee emergency operations, including programming and management aspects, working and coordinating complex projects with different entities and government authorities
  • Ability to travel frequently and to work in difficult environments
  • Proven ability to conceptualise, develop, plan and manage programmes, leadership and teamwork abilities, good analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills
  • Ability to engage effectively with a wide range of actors including those in the international humanitarian community and governments
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Computer knowledge and skills
  • Fluency (level C) in both English and French languages
