The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Policy Officer.

WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct desk and literature review on recommendations and effectiveness of nutrition assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) interventions, including modalities of food and nutrition support
  • Map out national clinical and social partners supporting PLHIV and analyse any existent data available that could improve the design or complement the planned study
  • Develop the study protocol, following the guidelines of the National Bioethics Committee of Health and liaison with this entity seeking its approval
  • Prepare the implementation of the study (select the research team, budget, training, and all operational arrangements)
  • Lead the fieldwork (data collection process) ensuring proper quality checks
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting
  • Propose a set of recommendations based on findings
  • Submit the study report with findings for approval of the Ministry of Health, WFP and the bioethics committee
  • Support the dissemination and communication of the study findings to all key stakeholders
  • Bring to the attention of WFP and MISAU any issues that may affect the quality and credibility of the study process and suggest ways to overcome them when relevant
  • Perform any other duties that may be required to meet the objective of this consultancy

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Medicine, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related field
  • Five years, minimum, of experience working with HIV or nutrition programmes in Mozambique
  • Experience working in NGO, UN agencies, and building partnerships with the Ministry of Health, national HIV programmes, or national and local organisations (desirable)
  • Knowledge of evaluation principles, approaches, and methods
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Capacity to collect and analyse data
  • Proven ability to analyse complex health issues and results/performance frameworks
  • Fluency (level C) in English and Portuguese
