The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Policy Officer.

WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall management and coordination of resilience and safety net activities across the AO operations
  • Develop and sustain professional relationships with key government, UN and NGO partners
  • Support coordination, information management, visibility efforts and identification of synergies/linkages/opportunities for complementarity between activities of humanitarian actors at the field level
  • Contribute to formulating a strategic approach by preparing project documents/concept notes/proposals/strategies that align with the government’s policies and strategies across AO locations as well as under the WFP’s corporate framework and policies
  • Review and support WFP cooperating partners (CPs) planning and formulating quality projects that address the underlying causes of food insecurity in various livelihoods
  • Provide technical advice on design and implementation of assets creations/income generating activities
  • Assess partners’ capacity gaps and organise capacity-building programmes (workshops, training, exchange visits, etc.) to fill these gaps
  • Conduct impact studies for the various activities being implemented
  • Ensure available funds are well planned, prioritised, monitored and fully utilised
  • Assist in the preparation/update of the early warning, risk analysis and contingency planning across AO locations
  • Oversee preparation and dissemination of timely analytical and critical reports
  • Participate in field missions to monitor ongoing resilience activities and provide support to SOs as and when required
  • Work with the service units to ensure that quality non-food items are purchased and supplied to the communities for effective implementation of projects

Requirements

  • University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Agriculture, International Affairs, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field
  • Three years, minimum, of postgraduate professional experience in relevant fields
  • Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages
