The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking to fill the role of Programme Policy Officer.

WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake research and market analysis on food systems including market and supply side assessments of identified products
  • Facilitate financial integration in food systems, including through mobile payments, and help identify key constraints with more upstream studies
  • Analyse and design products and solutions through data cleaning, analysis and visualisation, and make compelling presentations that support financial inclusion for women and youths
  • Lead in cash-based transfers and the development, implementation and analysis of surveys, including cost effectiveness and cost efficiency metrics of WFP’s response
  • Lead the preparation of business models, multisector industry development plans and investment proposals for identified opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver training modules for value-chain development and business modelling
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative monitoring and evaluation guidance to strengthen data collection
  • Provide market-related, logistical and coordination support to ongoing project and programme activities
  • Provide market-related, logistical and planning support for WFP and partner technical events and workshops including communications and outreach material
  • Provide support in the development of communications and visibility activities for WFP’s market-based programmes and methodology and other related activities
  • Provide other technical inputs and advise on further development of the applied methodology

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree or first degree with additional relevant experience in Business, Economics, Financial Systems, Statistical Analysis, Operational Research or equivalent
  • Five years, minimum, of relevant experience in market analysis, financial inclusion, market research, business analytics, financial and value-chain analysis
  • Competence in using Windows, MS Office and statistical/data processing applications
  • Fluency (level C) in English language
  • Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) and/or WFP’s working language (Portuguese)
