The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Policy Officer.
WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight, management, and support toward the implementation of all project components, plans and processes for the GCF project in alignment with WFP and government of Zimbabwe policies and guidance
- Lead liaisons with government agencies, UN agencies, international financial institutions, and non-governmental organisations to ensure synergies with the GCF project and to engage in project implementation and/or joint programming
- Develop a standard operating procedures package, inclusive of guidance on potential partner roster methodology
- Ensure the preparation of accurate and timely reports (especially using primary data from monitoring) on GCF activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information
- Ensure strong collaboration with public, private, and/or civil partners leading to improved GCF project outcomes
- Coordinate the capacity building of WFP country office and field staff, partners, and government counterparts for all components under the GCF project
- Support the implementation of the WFP Zimbabwe country strategic plan by ensuring cross-cutting efforts such as nutrition-sensitivity, gender and diversity inclusion, protection and accountability, and linkages with other projects
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Economics, Finance, Agriculture, Geography and Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Insurance, or Disaster Risk Management
- Five years, minimum, of postgraduate experience in disaster risk reduction and management and development of contingency plans
- Knowledge of global climate change policy frameworks and climate finance mechanisms such as GCF and adaptation fund will be a plus
- Strong experience working with UN agencies, government entities, or civil society in climate change, resilience and/or environmental sustainability
- Experience in managing multi-donor projects and policy engagement with governments
- Climate change adaptation experience in the Southern African region
- Experience in the establishment of partnerships with public and private sector actors and an understanding of key climate change related-policy issues
- Fluency in oral and written English
