The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking to fill the role of Programme Assistant.
WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on food for assets (FFA)/food for training (FFT) programmes that provide enhanced opportunities to strengthen communities’ beneficiaries, promote self-reliance, strengthen livelihoods, and build resilience to shocks and response capacity
- Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of FFA while supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines
- Support with the implementation of processes such as community-based participatory planning that puts communities and their needs at the centre of the planning process, ensuring activities identified align with livelihood needs and the programmes of other partners
- Participate in the development of formal arrangements with implementing partners and identify proposed projects and facilitate needed approval at the local level, ensuring various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP policies and procedures
- Ensure and/or perform the accurate, timely recording of data on FFA and livelihood activities and consistency of information presented to the supervisor
- Support communication and activities with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions
- Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of project activities
Requirements
- Secondary school certificate
- Post-secondary diploma in Education, Social Services or a related area (desirable)
- Four years, minimum, of experience in development, food assistance in a humanitarian context
- Experience in livelihood and relief implementation activities (desirable)
- Ability to facilitate implementation of food assistance programmes using basic understanding of principles and good practices of programme design, implementation, and monitoring
- Understanding of basic technical concepts, data, and their relevance to food assistance programmes
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Strong written and oral communication skills including report writing skills
- Fluency in oral and written communication in English and Somali
- Nationality of Somalia
