The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Logistics Officer.

The WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the logistics operations
  • Support the delivery of food commodities and associated non-food Items to schools
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of supply chain plans and procedures in line with the global WFP supply chain strategy and regional/functional strategies, policies and plans to achieve operational cost efficiency, agility, reliability, and quality
  • Contribute to country context analyses and management of end-to-end operational supply chain and retail networks in order to address operational supply chain challenges and obtain operational optimisation
  • Contribute to the implementation of supply chain operations, initiatives and services to ensure a timely, cost-effective and integrated approach with core activities and services
  • Collect and analyse data and put together reports highlighting opportunities for improvement and effective operationalisation of the supply chain within the area of responsibility
  • Conduct portions of financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out recommendations for maximisation of the use of resources and the effectiveness of supply chain operations
  • Partner at the operational level and collaborate with counterparts in the key supply chain and programme functions, contributing to an integrated supply chain approach to food assistance and cross-functional operational alignment
  • Conduct portions of market analysis and supply chain network mapping
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Logistics, or other related fields, with or first degree with more than three years of related work experience and/or training/courses
  • One year, minimum, of postgraduate professional experience in a related field, three or more years of progressive experience in coordinating/managing supply chain operations
  • Experience working with a humanitarian or development outfit
  • Fluency in both oral and written English
  • Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage
  • Nationality of Ethiopia
