United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking to fill the role of Fleet Manager.
The mission of WFP is to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the performance of trucks/trailers to achieve maximum utilisation, vehicle routing and scheduling for the timely deliveries of both food and non-food-items for operational needs
- Carry out scheduled maintenance and repair, overhaul, reconditioning, and modifications in the most efficient manner with the ultimate objective to ensure that all vehicles are maintained to a high standard and in roadworthy condition
- Oversee the materials management aspect of the operation and, in particular, the controlling, justification and issuance of spare parts, tires, lubricants and consumable materials at the area offices and sub-offices
- Prepare orders for spare parts/tires and materials required for the operation and submit these requests for the approval of the fleet manager
- Ensure that proper workshop administration, record keeping and vehicle history records are well maintained via the fleet management system
- Directly manage WFP staff and drivers/convoy leaders
- Manage and ensure that all reports and information as required by the organisation are produced promptly
- Ensure that all repairs and maintenance performed is in accordance with the required standards established to achieve maximum reliability with minimum downtime and quality workshop management maintained
- Implement best practices established and ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are maintained with parameters set
- Ensure that minimum health and safety requirements are met in full
- Ensure that all staff (persons reporting) carry out their duties in accordance with their job descriptions set
- Continuously collect and collate valuable data or information relating to improvements required for standardisation and development purposes for fleet management and communicate this information to other staff in fleet
- Share experiences gained with other staff members and strive towards creating good team building and harmonious atmosphere
- Travel occasionally, as required
- Carry out any other duties as requested
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or a related field, or first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses
- Five years, minimum, of relevant postgraduate professional experience in supply chain
- Experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors
- Experience working with corporate systems (databases, software)
- Experience in writing, preparing reports and presentations
- Good analytical skills, resourcefulness, initiative, tact and ability to work in a team and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English
- Good understanding of WFP supply chain processes, systems and tools (desirable)
- Comprehensive understanding and good working knowledge of database management systems for stock control/procurement software package (desirable)
- Extensive experience in using a computerised fleet management system (desirable)
- Experience in logistics and fleet field (desirable)
