The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Business Transformation Officer.

WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

Responsibilities

  • Chair the UN TEC working group and promote TEC common services within the UN organisations
  • Engage with the UN organisations to understand their needs and translate into clear requirements that can be met through innovative digital solutions
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight for digital solutions (including data and monitoring solutions) within the UN organisations
  • Support deployment in country office and interagency and their adoption of digital platforms/tools
  • Propose alternative approaches to TEC common services issues and provide draft recommendation on potential technology available
  • Design strategies and recommendations on potential options, taking into account unanticipated changes and factors
  • Communicate complex technical requirements to non-technical UN agencies and humanitarian partners
  • Prepare and present briefings to partners and WFP senior management officials
  • Ensure effective coordination and cooperation with other UN agencies in order to maximise possibilities of interagency collaboration in line with BOS framework and local shared service centre strategy
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the existing interagency project indicators and communicate to stakeholders and partners the success, failures, and risks of the projects

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; or first degree with additional years of related work experience or training/courses
  • Eight years, minimum, of postgraduate experience in I.T., project/programme management, technology, and/or strategy-related work
  • Fluency (level C) in the English language
  • Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language
  • Solid knowledge of new technologies, digital transformation, data management/protection
  • Proven project and programme management skills with excellent knowledge of change management
  • Ability to influence at senior levels within and beyond the organisation
  • Ability to assimilate and analyse complex issues using independent judgment and anticipate potential strategic impact
  • Ability to create simple messages from complex data sets and present concisely, tailoring messages to the needs of the specific audience
