The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Business Development Manager.
WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate a landscape analysis process, including all phases from scope definition to reporting accruing inputs from technical units and working closely with functional units in RBN, country offices and headquarters as needed
- Complete detailed research and analysis of private sector partners’ corporate engagement agendas to generate insights and develop recommendations
- Informed by all research and analysis completed, support the private sector team with developing a strategic vision, objectives, and key results for the business development plan that aligns with both regional priorities and global corporate strategy
- Collaborate with WFP stakeholders to integrate their knowledge and experiences into research, analysis and strategy to proactively address learnings and knowledge of the organisation’s opportunities with corporate stakeholders
- Work with country offices in the region on strategic positioning to finalise concrete value propositions in sectors that show a pipeline of opportunities
- Support the finalisation of the regional business development strategy
- Complete a corporate landscape analysis and report detailing recommendations on prospects who have interest, alignment and capacity in WFPs work
- Ensure the development of a pipeline for RBN countries, identifying high-value sectors
- Carry out any other relevant duties as requested
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing Communications or a related field; or first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses
- Five years, minimum, of relevant professional work experience in business development, fundraising, marketing, strategy development and/or other partnership roles
- Experience in international organisations/companies outside of home country
- Demonstrable experience with international development issues and significant experience in developing relationships and managing strategic partnerships
- Experience with private sector businesses and corporates
- Technical skills and knowledge of project management
- Experience working in developing country context, preferably in food security or resilience projects or programmes
- Experience coordinating or leading a programme team or a component of a programme portfolio
- Experience engaging in policy and strategy discussions and providing input
- Ability to analyse and identify opportunities for and propose solutions to programme quality improvement
- Analytical skills with ability to compile, analyse and interpret data, prepare reports, and draw conclusions and recommendations
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national and cultural backgrounds and to manage external partnerships
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
