Applications are opened for the Wellcome Senior Research Fellowships which supports independent researchers who are emerging as global leaders in their fields and want to tackle the most important questions in science.
Benefits
- A basic salary (determined by host organisation)
- A fellowship supplement of £12,500 if successful applicant is paid on a non-clinical salary scale
- Research expenses, Including research staff
Eligibility
- Open to applicants already leading their own independent research programmes and emerging global leaders in their fields
- Applicant should have a higher degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) and significant experience conducting research
- Applicant should have a track record of holding independent funding
- Applicant must provide evidence of important contributions to applicant’s area of research
- Applicant must show that work is important, original and impactful
- Applicant must have a strong rationale for needing a research fellowship rather than taking up an established post
- Applicant must be committed to developing and mentoring less experienced researchers
