The United Nations University Centre for Policy Research (UNU-CPR) has opened applications for the junior fellow (intern) role for the Effective Multilateralism project.

UNU-CPR is one of 13 research and training Institutes that comprise the think tanks in the UNU system generating innovative solutions to current and future global public policy challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Attend common agenda thematic briefings and other relevant meetings and produce summary notes for the CPR High-Level Advisory Board (HLAB) team
  • Conduct background research for talking points and briefing notes on relevant HLAB topics
  • Conduct literature reviews on specific topics relevant to HLAB
  • Identify suitable experts and institutions that can partner with UNU-CPR on HLAB dissemination
  • Coordinate meetings, briefings and workshops related to HLAB
  • Perform administrative and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Degree in Journalism, Law, Communications, Development, Economics, International Relations, Peace and Security, or a related field
  • Be in the final year of undergraduate study or enrolled in a graduate degree programme or within the two-year post-graduation (maximum) from either a first degree, master’s degree or PhD programme
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English
  • Working knowledge of another UN language will be a plus
  • Excellent research, writing and analytical skills
  • Resourcefulness and creativity in problem-solving
  • Advanced computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with ICT tools)
  • Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and, more specifically, in the work of the UNU
