The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Strategy Advisor.
The mission of UNOPS is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure, and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Support the coordinator’s function by contributing in shaping the secretariat’s thinking and execution of new concepts, approaches and priorities for the future direction of the SUN Movement, including its global support system
- Work closely with the chief of staff, coordinate the SUN Movement secretariat’s support and provide sound contributions to the processes for developing phase-three strategy of the movement and the operationalisation of its global support systems
- Support the SUN Movement secretariat to systematically preserve and better utilise the institutional knowledge SUN Movement
- As a member of the senior management team, provide advice and inputs and contribute to high priority projects for the SUN Movement secretariat
- Advise the coordinator of the SUN Movement and the chief of staff in the overall support to the movement
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent), preferably in Political Science, Social Sciences, Economics, Development, International Relations, Nutrition or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree
- Seven years, minimum, of progressively responsible experience providing advice to senior management roles at international level
- Experience in building partnerships with major relevant stakeholders in the politics of the global nutrition governance landscape issues is an asset
- Field experience in multi-sector development or food and nutrition security programmes and policies is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across one or more dispersed and diverse teams
- Understanding of and significant experience in public administration and governance structures at both the national and sub-national levels
- Experience in building political and strategic oversight with a focus on developing partnerships with major relevant stakeholders in politics, decision making and the global nutrition governance landscape issues
- Knowledge of and practical experience in the development and impact of global and regional development initiatives, as well as a sound understanding and appreciation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Fluency in another UN language is desirable
