The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has opened applications for the role of Operations Specialist.
UNOPS’ mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure, and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Support the integration of explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) and nontechnical survey (NTS) into the development of a national strategy by the APMBC interministerial committee
- Develop EORE materials for the integration of EORE into the school curriculum (modules and training guides)
- Develop a training package and conduct training on EORE and nontechnical survey
- Provide explosive ordnance awareness (EOA) to humanitarian personnel and national authorities
- Develop plans and guidance for the integration of EORE within the wider humanitarian response
- Provide technical and planning support to the Mine Action implementing partners with regard to project implementation, including training, development of materials, monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance activities
- Draft national standards on EORE and NTS
- Provide technical advice and support on the issue of EORE and NTS to key stakeholders
- Assist with concept notes, project proposals and new initiatives
- Liaise with HMA partners and national authorities
- Develop plans and provide guidance for the integration of EORE and conflict preparedness and prevention (CPP) within the wider humanitarian response
- Conduct the quality assurance, analysis and report-writing of KAPB surveys
- Conduct online training on HMA, EOA and EORE
- Advise on the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of EORE
- Oversee development of EORE materials (flipcharts, activity books, billboards/banners, leaflets)
Requirements
- Advanced university degree with five years of relevant experience
- First-level university degree with seven years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of the above requirement
- Two years, minimum, of experience in risk education related to explosive hazards, IEDs and small arms and light weapons
- Fluency in English
