United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) is seeking to fill the position of Finance Officer (Somalia Humanitarian Fund).

UNOCHA coordinates the global emergency response to save lives and protect people in humanitarian crises.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the finance section in the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) humanitarian financing unit
  • Support with the financial aspects of management of SHF allocation processes
  • Oversee financial aspects of the SHF accountability framework
  • Support with ensuring proper SHF cash management, analysis and staying abreast of relevant policy developments

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Public Administration
  • Professional accounting qualification from an internationally recognised accounting institute
  • Professionally qualified accountants from an internationally recognised accounting institute will be a plus
  • Diploma/certificate of vocational training in financial controls or auditing will be a plus
  • Five years, minimum, of relevant experience in providing financial management advisory services or managing staff or operational systems or administration, budget, business administration or a related area
  • Experience working in a finance capacity in an international organisation, NGO or multilateral aid agency or a similar organisation
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database package
  • Experience in handling web-based management systems and ERP financials, preferably PeopleSoft
  • Knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS is required for external candidates
  • Relevant experience in the UN common system (desirable)
