United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Procurement Associate.

Responsibilities
  • Provide input to and advise on the annual supply plan
  • Conduct data review and analysis for category management and development of procurement strategies
  • Conduct market research in relevant areas for UNICEF and advise on best approaches to obtain best value for money and sustainable procurement
  • Support product innovation and market-shaping initiatives for specific categories of supplies and services
  • Undertake local procurement of supplies, equipment and services in accordance with competitive bidding process to enable the organisation to gain optimum value for expended funds, ensuring all UNICEF financial rules and regulations on issuance of bids and LPOs are fulfilled
  • Assist in conducting regular market research
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of supplies to recipients and prompt payments to suppliers
  • Verify invoices, ensuring quantities, prices and conditions on supplies are in accordance with the local purchase orders
  • Prepare correspondence on supply matters and on queries from supply division, NYHQ and other field offices

Requirements

  • Secondary education, preferably supplemented with technical or university courses in Business Studies/Commerce or equivalent qualification
  • Six years, minimum, of administrative and/or supply-related work experience, with three years, minimum, in a large organisation
  • Familiarity with UNICEF, UN supply procedures and systems
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered an asset
