United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has opened applications for the post of Procurement Assistant.

Responsibilities
- Receive and review draft requisitions for clarity, adequacy of specifications and completeness
- Confirm availability of funds and obtain additional information considered necessary
- Interact with the programme section in the preparation of appropriate documents
- Compile and evaluate procurement requests and ensure appropriateness of terms of references/scope of programmatic services
- Compile lists of local/international sources of procurement and contact local/international potential suppliers or vendors for price quotations
- Prepare summary of bids, including information on price and conditions of offer
- Share and manage international tenders with potential suppliers
- Once decision on supplier is taken, draft the obligation and compile obligation documents for supervisor’s signature
- Ensure distribution of signed obligation documents to all parties
- When required, maintain contact with forwarder, customs and immigration officials, and follow up on preliminary supply clearance documentation to facilitate timely customs clearance of supplies and equipment
- Maintain manual and automated procurement files and records
- Provide purchase information and maintain procurement supply and vendor reference database
- Provide interpretation of administrative rules, regulations and procedures
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- Secondary education supplemented with courses in Procurement Methods, Logistics, or equivalent technical training
- Five years, minimum, of progressively responsible administrative work, with specialised experience in purchasing a variety of materials and services
- Experience with computer database, SAP for maintaining procurement records
- Experience in supply/logistics management
- Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English
- Knowledge of the local language will be an asset
