The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Partnerships Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Seek, promote, and manage new and existing partnerships
  • Work with OGIP colleagues to identify partnership needs and broker agreements to meet those needs
  • Continuously review office’s approach to partnerships across functions and thematic areas and identify opportunities and strategies for more effective ways of working
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange on the office’s outputs and learning amongst external and internal partners, including managing external relationships by maintaining a contact database, disseminating monthly newsletters and developing targeted website content
  • Broker internal partnerships with various UNICEF offices and form strategic collaboration
  • Leverage existing partnerships and events across HQ divisions and identify ways to strengthen delivery of OGIP’s mandate through synergies and collaboration
  • Provide strategic, logistical and programmatic support to staff and on projects with high dependency on partnerships for successful delivery
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge and familiarity with current and prospective partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Contribute to a database of key contacts and to OGIP’s base of knowledge, templates, and best practices on partnerships
  • Project manage the Global Poll on 21st century childhood, including leading dialogue with SD on procurement and contracting

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, International Development, or a related field
  • First university degree in a relevant field with two additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
  • Five years, minimum, of relevant and progressively responsible work experience in public affairs, programme management, resource mobilisation, external relations, or another relevant field
  • Exceptional project management skills is highly desired
  • Diplomatic communication and negotiation skills, and in-depth knowledge of partnership development is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is an asset
  • Current knowledge of development issues, strategies as well as programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation is an asset
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset
