United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Monitoring Officer.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate technical support for an efficient decentralised planning/monitoring system for programmes to track progress resulting from the implementation of the field office workplans for the improvement of the situation of children and women
- In coordination with other stakeholders, support performance monitoring and reporting of the sectoral programmes and coordination of the reporting of UNICEF’s contribution to UNSCDF
- Support management of available baseline information on national statistics and key indicators through established databases for easy access and use
- Provide technical support to ensure that monitoring systems are in place and that key annual programme indicators are tracked and analysed
- Undertake field visits to monitor programme implementation, as well as support periodic programme reviews with government counterparts and other partners
- Identify problems or alternative courses of action to accelerate/improve programme delivery
- Assist government authorities to plan and organise training programmes related to decentralised monitoring/planning
- Identify training needs for the purpose of capacity building and sustainability of programme
- Facilitate learning from the results of monitoring among national partners and other key stakeholders, engaging more expertise from knowledge institutions
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Demography, Development Planning, Statistics, or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree with four years of experience in the same field may be accepted
- Two years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in programme monitoring and evaluation
- Practical experience in community-based research
- Fluency in French and English
- Knowledge of French and the local working language of the duty station
