United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Emergency Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Technically and operationally assist in the formulation, preparation and implementation of humanitarian cash transfers (HCT) programmes
  • Conduct regular operational analysis of the programmes, identify areas of poor performance, bottlenecks, and proffer solutions
  • Liaise and work closely with UN Common Cash System focal points from other agencies to identify complementarities and operational synergies
  • Advocate UNICEF strategic positions on humanitarian cash transfers in a HCT-related cash coordination forum
  • Support the facilitation of the HCT office task force, prepare agenda, updates, and review progress
  • Document field experience including new models of implementation, programmatic approach, joint programme, and inter-agency coordination efforts
  • Liaise regularly with RO, HQ cash focal points through established coordination mechanisms to ensure follow-up actions at the respective levels are taken

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Database Management, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant industry certifications and work experience can be considered
  • Eight years of professional work experience at national and international levels, with five years, minimum, working design and implementation of humanitarian cash transfer programmes in a variety of humanitarian settings
  • Experience with UNICEF is an asset
  • Experience in providing direct technical assistance to emergency country offices
  • Experience and or exposure to interagency cash coordination, including with UN agencies
  • Strong emergency and operational field experience with UNICEF
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) across multiple audiences with the ability to influence others while working in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
  • High motivation and dedication to deliver results within strict timeframes in challenging environments
  • Working knowledge of French and fluency in English
