United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking to fill the role of Programme Associate, Inclusive Growth (IG) Programme.
UNDP works in nearly 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.
Responsibilities
- Support the pillar lead in monitoring programme strategies and implementation of the IG project
- Support creation of projects in Atlas, preparation of required budget revisions, revision of project awards and project status, determination of unutilised funds, operational and financial closure of projects
- Ensure proper control of the supporting documents for payments and financial reports for NEX projects, and preparation of PO and non-PO vouchers for development projects
- Review NEX project financial reports, and preparation of non-PO vouchers for development projects
- Ensure communication within IG and other pillars is well maintained and there is no breakdown
- Manage compliance of contracted third-party service providers to good warehouse practice and good distribution practice key performance indicators in the identified warehouses and during the provision of transportation services by third-party logistics providers
- Ensure effective collection of agreed data for monitoring supply chain operations of third-party logistics service providers and government-owned warehouses to ensure standard practices and appropriate procedures (for warehousing, distribution and especially inventory management) are maintained
- Coordinate stakeholders and partners who interact with warehousing and distribution activities
- Modify the design of storage and distribution systems to ensure optimum performance and respond to other commodity and partner needs
- Report regularly to USAID, the Global Fund, FMOH, and other partners on stock status and supply chain performance
- Provide insight and support to the quantification and supply planning for warehousing and distribution-managed commodities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field
- Six years, minimum, of experience in programme management/administration
- Experience in working with government, CSO, private sector, and development partners
- Extensive experience in socio-economic development areas, including development issues, policies and strategies, regulatory frameworks and institutional setup, analysis, and reviews
- Good understanding of the issues around inclusive growth mainstreaming initiatives to facilitate job creation, poverty alleviation, development financing, and capacity development
- Experience in the use of computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience in handling of web-based management systems
- UN and international organisation experience will be a plus
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in team, sharing information and coordinating efforts
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- On-the-ground work experience in developing countries, preferably African countries
- Knowledge of Kiswahili will be considered an asset
- Fluency in oral and written English
