United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of National Programme Officer.
UNDP works in nearly 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.
Responsibilities
- Formulate, analyse, plan, implement and report on technical assistance activities at the national, sub-regional and regional level in accordance with the UNODC/GPML overall programme strategy and as integral element of UNODC’s country specific and regional programmes
- Provide substantive and strategic oversight of planning, budgeting, implementing and monitoring of the project in Senegal
- Organise monthly and or quarterly work planning and progress reviews
- Ensure timely preparation of progress reports of the Senegal project and submission to the donor
- Participate in and contribute to the conduct of technical assistance activities to requesting countries and undertake substantive, organisational and coordination arrangements
- Draft and translate relevant documents such as project proposal for donor countries, progress reports, etc
- Provide support to the technical cooperation activities with relevant international, regional and national institutions and organisations active in the field
- Contribute to maintaining close contacts with national counterparts and United Nations and entities
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Law, Preferably with specialisation in International Law or Criminal Law, or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in similar fields combined with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
- Specialisation in criminal issues is an asset
- Five years, minimum, of relevant professional experience in a related area
- Experience in technical assistance programmes and management of project is an asset
- Knowledge of money laundering and terrorist financing is an asset
- Familiarity with regional dimensions pertaining to West and Central Africa
- Knowledge of the work of the United Nations office on drugs and crime (desirable)
- Knowledge of UN system and its administration and finance rules (desirable)
- Fluency in English and French
