United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking to fill the position of Consultant ICT Assistant.
UNDP works in nearly 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure uninterrupted and effective ICT services to the office
  • Install and support LAN/WAN and data communications systems as per ICT standard best practices
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair ICT equipment
  • Perform daily server backup of data files
  • Set up and maintain disaster recovery procedures
  • Set up and maintain security of the ICT infrastructure (hacker and virus protection, protection against power failure, fire protection, etc.)
  • Maintain inventory of ICT equipment and software
  • Administer software and updates
  • Liaise with other UN agencies and external partners on ICT matters
  • Provide support to staff members in setting up Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Zoom and other video conferencing devices and applications
  • Provide in-house training/assistance to staff on usage of information technology equipment (computer accessories) applications
  • Assist in the design and implementation of database applications and other computer programmes

Requirements

  • Proven report-writing ability
  • Very good knowledge of LAN and TCP/IP networking
  • Expertise in latest version of Microsoft Operating System and business applications
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware and maintenance processes, network theory and their respective protocols, main email systems, I.T. security best practices and I.T. service management tools (ITSM)
  • Understanding of server management and virtualisation
  • Understanding of radio telecommunication concepts
  • Good knowledge of e-mail system administration
  • Good knowledge of computer security including firewall and virus protection with MacAfee or Norton anti-virus software
  • Good knowledge of data backup and disaster recovery procedures with backup system
  • Good knowledge of database programming
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and network administration tools
  • Good knowledge of administration of telecommunication systems
  • Ability to analyse and troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to write technical reports
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of personnel
  • Strong can-do attitude
  • Carry out responsibilities under minimum supervision
  • Ability to prioritise multiple requests in order to address requests in a timely manner
  • Ability to work effectively in a demanding and sometimes stressful environment
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of web-based, client/server and mobile applications
  • Working knowledge of networks and mobile devices
