The United Nations (UN) is seeking to fill the role of Programme Management Officer.
The UN is an intergovernmental organisation that aims to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international cooperation, and be a centre for harmonising the actions of nations.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects on climate change mitigation, nature-based solution
- Monitor and analyse programme/project development and implementation
- Review relevant documents and reports
- Identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions
- Liaise with relevant parties
- Identify and track follow-up actions
- Perform consulting assignments in collaboration with the client unit, the branch and division in general, by planning facilitating workshops through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client unit will use to manage the change
- Research, analyse and present information gathered from diverse sources
- Assist in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies
- Undertake survey initiatives
- Design data collection tools
- Review, analyse and interpret responses
- Identify problems/issues and prepare conclusions
- Prepare various written outputs
- Provide substantive support to consultative meetings, conferences, etc
- Undertake outreach activities
- Conduct training workshops and seminars
- Make presentations on assigned topics/activities
- Participate in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and draft mission summaries
- Coordinate activities related to budget and funding and prepare related documents/reports
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Management, Development Studies, International Relations, Project or Programme Management or a related field
- First degree with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the above requirement
- Five years, minimum, of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management
- Two years of experience in coordination at a global headquarters and liaising with senior government officials
- Two years, minimum, of international work experience for environmental organisations (desirable)
- Experience in managing projects or programmes for the United Nations or comparable international organisations (desirable)
- Experience in monitoring projects and drafting progress reports (desirable)
