Sightsavers is seeking to fill the position of Safeguarding Advisor.
Sightsavers is an international organisation that works with partners to protect sight and fight for people with disability rights.
Responsibilities
- Design safeguarding elements for bids and identify safeguarding risks, acting as the safeguarding lead on new consortiums and projects where Sightsavers acts as the lead
- Create and facilitate safeguarding training
- Ensure capacity building on safeguarding
- Identify safeguarding risks
Requirements
- Experience working in an international development or humanitarian setting, particularly in Africa
- Experience in running training and an understanding of the increased risks faced by children and adults with disabilities
- Experience in safeguarding investigation or investigation management
- Ability to bring a contextual understanding of working on safeguarding and child protection in Africa and provide support to designated safeguarding leads in Africa
- Fluency in English and ability to deliver effective training
- Ability to help design and run safeguarding training and action plans with partners
- Ability to travel internationally for a few short trips per year
