Sightsavers is seeking to fill the role of Country Fundraiser.
Sightsavers is an international charity organisation working to prevent avoidable blindness, support equality for people with disabilities and advocate for change.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside internal teams to develop and deliver high-quality bids targeting new donors and HNWIs to support the Nigeria foundation funding strategy
- Maintain internal and external relationships critical to fundraising activities to achieve objectives
- Identify, develop and manage a portfolio of new and existing donors
- Take responsibility for delivery of agreed targets
- Grow the portfolio to engage new prospects through the development and implementation of operational plans that support the organisation’s fundraising strategies
- Manage the contracts and grants for agreed Sightsavers’ projects
- Maintain legal and compliance obligations for partners
- Develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the corporate social responsibility agenda of corporate organisations/partners in Nigeria
Requirements
- Proven track record of successful relevant fundraising experience in Nigeria
- Experience working at a senior level externally to develop high-value relationships with prospective supporters/clients while maintaining relationships with existing supporters/clients
- Depth of experience in fundraising from corporate/foundation fundraising
- Significant experience working at a senior level in a fundraising, marketing or sales capacity
- Experience in international development in a similar role
- History of meeting or exceeding financial targets and soliciting gifts from donors and prospects, or businesses in a commercial setting
- Knowledge of the principles of major donor, corporate and foundation fundraising
- Significant experience in successful face-to-face donor/customer contact, and building long-term relationships
- Extensive experience and knowledge of good fundraising practice and relevant legal issues or equivalent from a commercial setting
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Availability to travel across Nigeria for up to 12 weeks annually
