Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Community Mobilisation Assistant.
SFCG is an international nonprofit organisation whose mission is to transform the way the world deals with conflict away from adversarial approaches toward cooperative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Support community mobilisers to conduct social cohesion activities, dialogue platform meetings, and community initiatives, following a participatory and conflict sensitive approach in the project’s target communities
- Support project manager, national trainer, and psychosocial support specialist with logistics for training, mobilisation of participants, and other activities as needed, when they are implementing activities under the RESILAC project
- Ensure all logistics and financial documentation for the project activities follow the organisation’s policies and compliance measures
- Assist in identification and setup of the training venues, including the logistical aspects for activities
- Support in documenting all project activities by collection of attendance and other data relevant for indicator trackers
- Assist RESILAC community mobiliser officers to document case studies/quotes/feedback, report meeting minutes and activities when required
- Assist in community sensitisation sessions and meetings to educate the community on social cohesion and peacebuilding
- Support in dispatching invitation letters and communicating with government and traditional stakeholders
- Support RESILAC team to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to adapt programming to further support social cohesion in target areas and to ensure the full RESILAC project is conflict sensitive
Requirements
- Two years, minimum, of professional experience, with at least one year of working with a local/international NGO
- Proven experience and skills in community engagement
- Bachelor’s degree in Conflict Resolution, International Relations, or a related field
- Strong attitude for team work and collaboration
- Good analytical and writing skills
- English language fluency
- Fluency in local languages, including Hausa and Kanuri
- Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
- Ability to prioritise, plan, and organise workflow to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks, and be flexible with changing priorities
- Ability to process detailed and/or new information readily and to put it into practice effectively
- Ability to remain fully functional by adapting to high security risk environment and changing circumstances (environment, procedures and people)
