Apply: Save the Children Supply Chain Manager

Save the Children International (SCI) has opened applications for the role of Supply Chain Manager.

The organisation works to ensure children around the world get health care, food and shelter as well as learning and child protection services.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the adherence to SCI and donor policies, procedures, and ethics
  • Ensure the fleet utilisation while following SCI and donor policies and procedures
  • Monitor local partners’ procurement performance with close coordination with all the relevant stakeholders (finance, partnerships, operations and awards)
  • Represent the supply chain in all programme and award review meetings
  • Ensure that the level of supply chain key performance indicators is satisfactory, timely, appropriate, cost-effective, and achieves best value for money on budget
  • Manage complex procurement requests, following the procedures, and secure all the required approvals from RO and centre as required
  • Manage and motivate supply chain staff to highly perform in their respective roles and responsibilities
  • Provide training, capacity-building and mentoring on procurement/supply chain, as required, across the programme and operations

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in supply chain management
  • Extensive experience in successful development and implementation of a logistics and supply chain strategy and infrastructure for a global operation
  • Ability to develop contracting strategy
  • Strong understanding of agreements and contracts
  • Demonstrable experience in sourcing and contract management, including ability to review demands and trends, and to develop strategies to fill identified gaps
  • Experience with streamlined and automated procurement processes, including refining in-country processes, developing user-friendly SOPs and training programmes, and providing technical support to the country office team members/users of the the procurement system in place
  • SAP experience
  • Field level experience in managing complex supply chains for INGOs and provision of technical support for local NGO partners
  • Knowledge of procurement ethics and key institutional donors and their compliance requirements in respect to supply chain functions
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, and a clear way forward in collaboration with other support function leads
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and process information into action as to not delay programme activities
  • Clear understanding of and donor compliance
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Microsoft Office skills

  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children aims, values and principles
